The Horse-breeding Museum of Moscov Agricultural Academy named by K.A.Timiryazjev. That unique museum was founded in 1929 on the basis of a private collection of the famous russian horse-breeder and collectioner J.I.Butovich. About 3000 works of the art dedicated to horses keep and expose in the Museum. Among exhibits there are original pictures, aquarelles, sculptures of V.A.Serov, B.D.Polenov, M.A.Vrubel, B.M.Grekov, N.S.Samokish, P.K.Klodt, E.A.Lansere, M.I.Avilov, N.G.Sverchkov, T.S.Salakhov and other russian famous painters. The museum exposition demonstrates a history and modern Russian horse-breeding state of art, initiated with multiform horse breeds and with best horses. In specialized museum foto-library keep about 60000 negatives - fotos of famous horses, of horse-sport episodes, of studs activity. The library of Museum number about 11000 books and magazines. Among them there are many the curiosity books of XVI-XIX ages. |
