The
Arabian Thoroughbred is an oldest one. English Thoroughbred, Trakehner, Lipizaner, Russian
rider, Orlov & Russian trotter, Tersky breeds and many others were obliged to Arabian
for their origins. Arabian in Russia first appeared in a period of the Tzar Ivan
Threatening (1440-1505). Many Arabian horses were brought in XVIII age. Best Arabians were
collected in a partimony of the count A.G.Orlov-Chesmensky. Two stallions - silver-grey SMETANKA and brown SALTAN - became
"fathers" of two Russian breeds - Orlov trotter and Russian riding (Orlov-Rostopchinsky) breeds.Arabian horses strike by beauty and harmonious shapes. They have a little head, big expressive eyes, a swan's neck and slender feet. There are several types of the Arabian breed. Main types are Kokhaylan, Siglavy and Khadban. Siglavy is an embodiment of a typical Arabian horse. Cohalan is less well dressed, but it is more efficient. Kokhaylan-Siglavy is considered most valuable. They combine the beauty of Siglavy with the efficient form of Cohalan. In 1926 the Tersky stud was created in the place of private stud of prince Stroganov. The last one was founded in 1889 and specialized at Arabian horses. The Tersky stud recieved a status of Arabian pedigree stud. In 1930 a stallion KOKHEYLAN IV from Hungary, a stallion ARDAGAN from Turkey and 7 horses from French Pompadur stud - a stallion KANN and mares AISSA, GURARU, BELLA BONE, KIRZU, KARABIN', SAPIN' - were delivered to the Tersky stud. In 1936 25 Arabian horses of Siglavi and Khadban types (6 stallions and 19 mares) were delivered from English Crabbet Park Stud. 21 horses had inbreeding to the famous stallion MESAUD or to mares ROSE OF SHARON, NO FACE, RIDE . In 1939 on the Tesky stud were delivered 60 horses from Poland. Between them were famous breeders - OFIR, ENVER BAY, KHARDI, SKSHIP, TAKY PAN and PIOLUN ; mares - GAZELLA, DSIVA, TARAZHA, MAMMONA . Thise year the stallion PIOLUN - was brought on the Budenny stud for works on creating of the Budenny breed (the Budenny breed was registered in 1948) and improving of Donskay breed. In 1942 PIOLUN was got on the Tersky stud back. In 1947 from the Kirovsky stud, which growed Trakehner horses, were brought 9 Arabian mares of Poland blood on the Tersky stud. Mares were brought from Germany. So specially for the Tersky stud were delivered 18 stallions and 86 mares of different bloods and types, which were groving in diverse climatic conditions. They become the basic for creating of genotype of "Russian Arabs". Stallions - KANN from France, NASIM and RITAM from England, PIOLUN, SKSHIP, TAKY PAN and OFIR from Poland; mares - KARABIN and SAPIN from France, RIKSALINA, RISALMA and STAR OF THE HILLS from England, MAMMONA, TARAZHA, DSIVA, LAGODNA, VLODARKA from Poland exerded large influence on an evolution of the Arabian breed in Russia. Later in 1950-1960 on Tersky stud were used breeder stallions ARAKS, SEMEN, ELFUR from Poland, as well as NIL and ASUAN fron Egypt. Now on the Tersky stud are breed Arabian

Representatives: Arabian horses use for the other rider horse breeds pedigree improvement. Arabian test in races on Russian race-courses. These horses use for a riding and circus shows but very rarely for a classical horse-sport, as they have a small height. |
